I OPEN SOURCE GIS MEETING 2007 COMMUNICATIONS AVAILABLE

You already can consult presentations and communications from the I Open Source GIS Meeting 2007 carried out in Girona (Spain) last 5th, 6th and 7th of March: www.sigte.udg.es/jornadassiglibre

The meeting was opened by Joaquim Majó, Vice-rector of Technology Development and Knowledge Management of the University of Girona and Irene Compte, Director of SIGTE. The main objective was not to focus only on the new GIS open source programmes development and improvement but also to show real applications and implementations in the professional field.

The 140 registrations and more than 40 communications presented prove the good health of the Opensource GIS and its increasing day by day. It was also demonstrated through the presents of numerous companies, governmental institutions and universities representatives and professionals.

The SIGTE as the meeting responsible and organizer, and with the support of the Municipality of Girona, the University of Girona and the Girona Regional Council, would like to thanks to all the community met in Girona, its participation and its attendance to the event, as well as its good answer in relation this first edition. This satisfactory result makes possible to decide a second edition:
