6th GIS OPEN SOURCE CONFERENCE IS COMING
The 6th edition of GIS Open Source Conference will be held on Girona from 21st to 23th of March 2012. These Conferences are an initiative of the University of Girona’s Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing Centre born in 2007 and dealing with open source in the flied of GIS.
Edition after edition, the GIS Open Source Conference in Girona prove the active and dynamic GIS community existence that turns this event into a meeting point – every March in Girona – where to share knowledge, experiences and to strengthen the ties among the GIS community. A conference that put effort into 'how I do it', not just 'what I do'. The GIS Open Source Conference in Girona is focused on show and spread the latest developments and recent trends in the field of GIS Open Source and the use of free geospatial technologies. So the core of the event is based on the presentation of new developments and free libraries, improvements to existing projects, integration projects and use of free solutions, both from the Public Administration from the company, and to disseminate university research projects developed with free software.
Beyond the technical aspects of the program, the characteristic value of the conference is the familiar and collaboration atmosphere, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, experience and relationships in a calm and charming place such Girona.
