SIGTE PARTICIPATES IN MUNICIPALIA 2007

The Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing Service (SIGTE) of the University of Girona participated this past October in the XIV International Trade Fair of Municipal Services and Facilities – MUNICIPALIA 2007.

Municipalia is the leading fair in the urban facilities and services sector. In its most recent edition there were 270 exhibitors and more than 16,600 professional visitors.

Municipalia has become the reference event for the leading companies in the sector. The variety and the quality of what it has to offer make the fair an attractive place where heads of local government administrations, accompanied by technicians, will find multiple suggestions about planning investments to improve municipal facilities and services and guarantee the quality of life of its inhabitants.

For SIGTE Municipalia has been a very important connection to an area directly involved in territorial management (local entities) and therefore closely linked with the use of Geographical Information Systems. The fair has achieved the very important goal of: “bringing Geographical Information Systems nearer to local entities with decision-making power to provide added value to the sustainable management of territory and making known the tasks that are carried out at a university in support of local entities”.
