SIGTE AND CODORNIU SIGN A COLLABORATION AGREEMENT

SIGTE and Codorniu are collaborating together in the creation of an “Oxiwine - Penedès Region Geographic Information System”.

This collaboration agreement will lead to a Geographic Information System (GIS) project for the automated management and treatment of alphanumeric and graphic data related with the OXIWINE Vitivinicultural research project being carried out by the Codorniu Agricultural Division in the Penedès region.

Specifically the SIG-Oxiwine project will consist of:
  • Digital cartography, made up of a collection of 1:5,000 and 1:25,000 scale topographic maps and aerial photos and digital base maps of the boundaries of the vitivinicultural plots of the area under study (the Masia Bach and Codorniu cellars).
  • A relational database
  • A computer application based on WEB technology, made up of a an interface through which users will be able to display, edit and select maps, download data, make data queries and generate new information.

  • One of the goals of this working relationship is to allow the spatial distribution of the plots to be displayed according to the current state of maturation of the grapes. In this way, harvesting decisions about which areas must be harvested first and what type of wine can be made from each plot can be made.

The application includes a series of predefined thematic maps, an assistant to define and create new thematic maps, the updating of the harvest data, of the plots and of the state of maturation of the grapes.
