ENEREGION Summer School - Regional potencials for renewable energy
The SIGTE is taking part in the summer school held in Salzburg (Austria) from 24th June to 4th July.
In this edition, the ENERegion summer school will focus on the modelling and management of spatial resources for the generation of sustainable energy.
The ENERegion project is led by the Geoinformatics Centre of the University of Salzburg (Austria) and encompasses a consortium of university bodies made up of:
Department de Geography, Universitat de Bonn (Germany)
SIGTE, Universitat de Girona
Collage of Geoinormatics, University of West Hungary (Hungary)
GIS Laboratory, Jagiellonian University (Polond)
Institute of Geography, Tartu University (Estonia)
Through talks and workshops, participants will focus on the use of Geographic Information Systems and Spatial Analysis techniques in order to model spatial patterns of energy demand, as well as regional potentials for renewable energy generation (solar, thermal and photovoltaic, wind, biomass, geothermal and hydropower).
The project is co-financed by the ERASMUS programme, which has made it possible to subsidise students’ participation. In the case of the Universitat de Girona-SIGTE, 5 students from the Master Internacional UNIGIS have been awarded grants.
