The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya offers a course in Geographic Information Systems and Geotelematics

The course will introduce students to the world of geographic information systems (GIS) and everything related with them, such as cartography, geodesy, geographic databases, Google maps, etc.

The goal of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) (The Open University of Catalonia) is to promote lifelong training for people. With this purpose, the UOC bases instruction and learning on a model of network training and information and communication technology (ICT).

The Geographic Information Systems and Geotelematics course is an initiative of the Ateneu universitari (University Cultural Centre) and SIGTE has collaborate in its contents. The course is open to anyone – not only university students from the UOC – without any need for prerequisite training.

This course will help students better understand the world of GIS and geotelematics, which is in full bloom and will be, in a few years, part of people’s daily lives. In addition to mastering basic concepts, students will familiarise themselves with current and possible future applications, and will be capable of managing this information.
