The 3rd edition of the Open Source GIS Conference in Girona, organised by SIGTE and held from 11-13 March, has once again surpassed the success of previous editions.

The conference was held at the Hotel AC Palau Bellavista of Girona, the meeting point on March 11th and 12th of the two hundred persons attending, and in the Faculty of Arts of the University of Girona, where eighty participants attended workshops on March 13th.

Both the plenary and the parallel sessions lived up to the expectations for the topics and the objectives of the event, with a variety of papers presented from many different perspectives – public administration, private enterprise, research, etc.

The Open Source GIS Conference has once again demonstrated the active and dynamic nature of a GIS community that perceives, feels and lives these conferences as a meeting point to share knowledge and experiences and to strengthen relations with regard to open source solutions and Geographic Information Systems.
