IV JORNADAS DE SIG LIBRE OVERCOMING BAD WEATHER

IV Jornadas de SIG Libre overcame successfully the inclement weather that affected Girona during the week of the conference. In spite of weather, approximately 200 'restless' met during the days 10, 11 and 12 March in Girona to share experiences and knowledge surrounding the software in the field of GIS.
A new edition that shows there is a lively and active community - between the group of users, developers and implementers GIS - willing to continue leading and position the free solutions in the field GIS.
Remains true to its format, the 10th was devoted to workshops with the participation of the maximum possible audience. The workshop program consisted of four workshops - two in the morning and two afternoon -: Practical introduction to MapFish, the Web 2.0 mapping application framework, by Bruno and Claude Binet Philipon (camptocamp), Workshop based on UMN MapServer Workshop, by Jose Molina (IOGEO), Workshop based in gvSIG 1.9, by Victoria Agazzi and Jorge G. Sanz (Prodevelop - gvSIG Association), and Workshop based on uDig, by GENASYS Spain II.
The Conference count on the contributions of Agustin Lobo (CSIC): Open Source Science: Open Source to Open Science, Andres Garcia (Invest Spain):¿Por qué España? Oportunidades de negocio en Software Libre, Jo Walsh (The Open Knowledge Foundation): A free Software Model for Open Knowledge, Genís Roca (RocaSalvatella): SIG y Empresa. Estrategias y modelos de negocio en la red, Jordi Ramot (IOGEO and Wikiloc): Volunteered Geographic Information – Experiencias en Wikiloc, and Arnulf Chrsitl (OSGeo Foundation): The state of OSGeo and the global SDI. His speeches, all interesting, gave way to communication techniques, once again took the brunt of the conference.
Appointments necessary for all 'worried' were remind at the end of the Conference: The State of the Map (9-11 June, Girona) and the FOSS4G (6-9 September, Barcelona). And of course, ¡V Jornades de SIG Lliure!
