The GIS OPENSOURCE Summer School 2010 is focused on building Open Source Opportunities in Geographic Information and is held in Girona (Spain) from 28th June to 9th July 2010.
The Summer School is organized jointly by the Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing Centre (SIGTE) of the University of Girona (Spain), the Lahti Center of Aalto University School of Science and Technology of the Aalto University (Finland), the Center for Geospatial Science (CGS) of the University of Nottingham (United Kingdom) and the Institute for Research on Urban Sciences and Techniques (IRSTV) from the Ecole Centrale de Nantes (France).
The course will be focused on exploring and building the potential of open data sources (such as Spatial Data Infrastructures) and Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) for Geospatial.
Participants will learn several methods, techniques and resources that will enable them to work independently in making decisions on issues about the impact on the environment and community. The course is financed by the Erasmus Intensive Program (Erasmus IP) for all those participants coming from the organizing institutions.
Those interested in learning more about the possibilities of open source GIS and building future research collaboration are invited to be part of the summer school next summer in the lovely city of Girona in Spain.
